Safety Online: How to Avoid Scammers

Scammers are everywhere online, and they can be quite convincing. They're also pretty good at finding ways to convince you that they're not a scammer. This can make it hard for a lot of people to identify scammers when they come across them. If you want to avoid getting scammed, there are some things you can do:

1) Ask yourself if what they're asking for is reasonable. If you get an email from a Nigerian prince who wants you to wire him money so he can send it back to you in exchange for your bank account information, just know that's probably not going to happen.2) Try looking for reviews about the company or person that's trying to sell something, or check out their website for customer contact information.3) Be careful when sharing personal information online—don't give out any more than necessary!
